The Holy Qur'an mostly deals with the principles and generalities of the content and teachings of religion, not referring, except in some cases, to the particularities and examples. Thus, commentators may impose their own personal opinions in identifying the examples and particularities of the holy Ayat without presenting sufficient evidence. Yet, in expressing the examples of some Ayats, one example clearly is the best, among others, in a certain time and for all human beings. Faith and belief are the cases of excellence, the present study aims to answer the following question: In commentators’ opinions, who is the supreme example of the holy Ayat “Is He Who Supplicates in the Watches of the Night, Prostrating and Standing” (Qur’an, 39:9)? The study was conducted through library research and hadith analysis. The findings of the research showed that, first, mentioning different causes of the revelation of the Ayat indicates the personal ijtihad and distractible speech of the hadith narrators, since every Ayat often does not have more than one cause of revelation. On the one hand, the examples mentioned by narrators for the Ayat are either al-muqtu’ (sectioned) or al-mawḍū in terms of Dirayat al-hadith (understanding Hadith) and the people, or the narrators are accused of lying. On the other hand, there are narratives which take Imam ‘Ali (AS.) as the example of “he who supplicates” and Ahl al-Bayt as “those who know”.
