The holy Qur’an is a multi-layered text, with a language full of semantic complexities that communicates with its audience in form of words. Semantics is a Scientifics method that deals with the mechanism of the constituent parts of a text, aiming to extract the meanings hidden in the text and discover its multiple layers through scientific study of the meaning. In this paper, the researcher attempts to answer the following question: what are the meanings of “Torment” and “hell” in Qur’an? Explaining this words and their functions and presenting a picture on the consequences of doing wrong and rewards of human actions can be an effective step towards acquiring spirituality and avoiding doing wrong and sin. Thus, it is essential to semantically investigate “torments of the hell” and gain accurate insight about the reality of these torments to shed more light on the present ambiguity on the torments of the hell. Accordingly, the present descriptive-analytical study seeks to, first, conceptualize the sematic terms “torment and hell” and, then, analyzes the scope of its meaning in Qur’an, identifying the nature and types of the torments and the nature and the doors of the hell. The analysis showed that in several Ayats, particularly in Surah “Qiyamat”, the certainty of the hell and torment as the punishment of the wicked is stipulated
